Scottish Climate Change Campaign
While Scotland is a small country, the Scottish Climate Change Bill could have global influence. At the end of this year, world leaders meet in Copenhagen to agree on reduction targets for the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. If Scotland can get this piece of legislation right, it will set the bar for other developed countries to follow.

On 4 December 2008 the draft Bill was introduced to Parliament. Thanks to the almost 20,000 WWF supporters from around the world who responded to the consultation, the Bill sets strong measures to reduce Scotland's greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050.

On June 24 2009 the Scottish Climate Bill was voted through Parliament.

Scotland’s decision to cut its emissions by 42 percent by 2020 and by 80 percent by 2050, on 1990 levels, sets an example for developed countries and sparks new hopes that world leaders would be able to agree on a successful climate change deal in Copenhagen.

What can you do?

Get ready for the Climate March on 5 December
WWF Scotland is supporting the march in Glasgow city centre, as part of the Stop Climate Chaos Scotland coalition. This will be the largest march on climate change ever to take place in Scotland. The march will take place just before the UN talks on global emissions reductions in Copenhagen. We need as many people as possible to turn out to ramp up pressure on the world's leaders to take radical action to tackle climate change.
