Events and Party Conferences
Events
Alongside our regular meetings with MSPs, researchers and parliamentary staff, WWF Scotland often holds events in Parliament to inform politicians of our work on current issues. Parliamentary events are an excellent opportunity to gather a group of interested MSPs together on a certain subject area and discuss how to influence political change.
WWF Scotland has held events on :
- Climate Change
- Ecological Footprint (with the Local Footprints Partnership)
- Freshwater and flooding (with Scottish Environment LINK)
- Marine environment (with Scottish Environment LINK)
- Sustainable Development Education
- Childrens Parliament (Festival of Politics)
Party Conferences
Party conferences are a valuable opportunity to catch up with contacts, meet members of political parties, speak to ministers and shadow spokespeople and gather political intelligence about forthcoming decisions. WWF usually attends the main conferences, hosting fringe events and organising key meetings.
In 2008/09, high profile fringe events on Climate Change and the Scottish Climate Change Bill were held at the main Party Conferences in partnership with Stop Climate Chaos Groups.
In 2009/10 Earth Hour became the main topic at party conferences.
